OnePlus updated their launcher with an unexpected function and useful

Luckily for the users, the manufacturers of mobile telephones have been polishing the interfaces they use on their mobile, and that run above the operating system that Google provides them.

This we have seen in brands such as Samsung, which although it has an interface heavily modified, it works a lot better than it did a few years ago.

Other brands like OnePlus, have been hypothesized, and with reason, of having a lightweight software and very fast. But even at Oxygen we found some areas for improvement.

The launcher of OnePlus updates the Discover of Google

Until the launch of the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro one of the few issues that the software company had, at least in my opinion, was to replace the Discover of Google on the left side of the desktop by your own bookshelf. In it we had access to where we had parked the car or recent apps among other things.

However, a lot of people complained that you could not have access in that area in the news, something which is very convenient for many users. That’s why we were surprised and we were glad when OnePlus rectified and in the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro replaced their own software by Discover Google.

Now, in an update to your launcher to be launched in the Google Play Store, this modification will not reverse but it increases the options available. In the top right will appear a new button that allows you to switch between the Discover of Google and the home zone of OnePlus with shortcuts and widgets. There is also a new option in the settings of the desktop that allows you to open Shelf, their zone of apps, with a swipe down on any part of the desktop. In this way, each user will be able to use the feature that most interests you, and you can even go alternating between one and the other.

This function is taking off slowly, and although we update the launcher in the Google Play Store, it is possible that we do not see the button to switch between the two services, so we will have to wait.

I hope companies like OPPO and Samsung copied this feature from OnePlus and would allow us to, if not remove your software, at least allow us to choose easily between your and the Google.
