OnePlus makes official the date of the OnePlus 9 and the agreement with Hasselblad

For several decades, mobile companies have been partnering with veteran photography brands to improve the quality of the cameras on their mobiles. This trend was inaugurated by Nokia with its agreement with Carl Zeiss and has been taken to the extreme by Huawei with Leica.

Now it joins the OnePlus trend, which today confirmed the agreement with Hasselblad that had been rumored for several weeks.

Strong investment in photography from Hasselblad

According to the Chinese company, the agreement with the Swedish firm Hasselblad will be for three years and they commit to invest 150 million dollars in that time just to improve photographic performance of their smartphones.

The first result of this agreement is the system Hasselblad Camera for Mobile which will debut in the OnePlus 9 that will be official shortly.

Collaboration begins with improving the color adjustment and sensor calibration, and later it will be extended to other parameters.

Presentation date of the OnePlus 9

In the same announcement OnePlus has confirmed that its new high-end family will be official next March 23, at 15 in the afternoon Spanish peninsular time.

The only confirmed feature is that the OnePlus 9 family will feature a custom Sony IMX789 sensor. We will have 12-bit RAW editing, improved HDR video recording, and support for capturing 4K video at 120FPS and 8K video at 30FPS.

On March 23 we will know everything about these new mobiles and their cameras.
