Official images of the new Google Chromecast with Android TV

In a few days we have an appointment with Google to present its new products for the home environment and, hopefully, a new Pixel. In addition to the high-end (or medium-high) mobile that we expect, it is almost certain that a new Chromecast will be announced, very different from what we have seen so far.

This product would be a device capable of equipping a television with an intelligent system by incorporating Android TV (with that or another name). We had already seen some images but now we see them in more detail, being able to check both the design and the use of the buttons on the remote that it will include.

The new Chromecast will have Google TV, not Android TV

Although the name change has not yet been made official, it seems that this device will modify the nomenclature of its operating system from being Android TV to Google TV. It is something similar to what happened with Wear OS, which moved away from the Android brand that for the moment remains only for phones and little else.

In the images we can see how the shape of the Chromecast has been slightly modified, but in essence it is still a device with an HDMI cable to connect to the TV at one end and with a charging port at the other. This time we have a USB C port, something that is appreciated.

But the most interesting piece of hardware is not, but the remote control that incorporates a Chromecast for the first time. It is very similar to what we have seen in Amazon or Xiaomi devices that use Android TV or a modification of it.

In the upper part we have a crosshair to move through the menus And in the lower part there are eight buttons and a microphone that will allow us to launch voice commands. To do this, we will see click on the only black button, the one in the upper right corner that is the Google assistant.

Along with these buttons we have two navigation buttons, one to go back and another to go to the main menu. We also have a button to mute the sound and another to turn the device on or off and another to change the video input source. The remaining 2 buttons are for multimedia applications, Netflix and YouTube.

It seems unlikely that we will be able to modify the behavior of these last two buttons, but with a bit of luck we can use the Button Mapper application that we are talking about in this article.

In a little less than two weeks we will especially about everything about this new product, including the price and if we can buy it in Spain.

The entry Official images of the new Google Chromecast with Android TV appears first in The Free Android.
