Nine casual games to play offline when on the go

Not all countries have free roaming not in all airlines you can access a stable (and cheap) WiFi connection. If you plan a trip and want to go armed with offline games to cope with the dead hours, in Engadget Android we have compiled nine casual titles you can try.

Some are free and others are paid, but they all have in common that They offer games either short or as long as you want, so that you can close the game at any time without anything happening. With that said, let’s go with the games.

Bloons TD 6

One of the most popular genres in casual games is Tower Defense, and if we talk about Tower Defense we have to talk about ‘Bloons’ saga and its latest edition: ‘Bloons TD 6’. In short, you have to prevent the balloons from reaching from one point to another on the map by wisely placing the different monkeys that you have at your disposal.

Each monkey has its abilities and three evolution paths, so you will have to choose the most suitable alternatives depending on the map. The games last around half an hour (depending on the level of difficulty) and each map has several sublevels, so it is very replayable. You can get it for 5.49 euros.

DOTA Underlords

Dota Underlords

The gender Auto Battler has reached mobile phones and its greatest exponent is ‘Auto Chess’, the game developed by Drodo and Dragonest. We’ve talked about it in depth, but it’s basically a strategy game in which you will have to create your own team, evolve each character and get objects to make them stronger. The problem is that it is online.

However, you have ‘DOTA Underlords’, which is the same and has an offline mode against AI. The operation is exactly the same, the characters are very similar and it is completely free. The games last around 30-35 minutes, depending on how good you are, so on a long trip you have time to take several.

2048

One of the great casual games is’2048‘. You have a board with blocks of different value that you must combine to get a block of ‘2048’ points before you run out of space. It may seem simple, but nothing is further from the truth. It’s like ‘Tetris’, which at first glance seems easy but is actually quite complicated. You have it for free on Google Play.

Two Dots

And in the line of 2048 is the sequel to ‘Dots’: ‘Two Dots, a game that, as its name suggests, manages to connect the dots. It is a mix between ‘Tetris’ and ‘Candy Crush’, since you will have to join groups of dots of the same color to clear the board and achieve the highest possible score. It’s simple, but beware, it hooks. The games will last as long as you want them to last, so it does not matter if it is a trip of one hour or 15.

Plague Inc

Much more complex is ‘Plague Inc’, by Miniclip. In ‘Plague Inc’ you will be the creator of a virus that aims to extinguish the world’s population; you will have to release it in a country and evolve it to prevent medical advances from stopping it or to accelerate its infection rate. It is a very gloomy (and fun) game that you can get for free on Google Play. Good luck trying to infect Greenland, because it will resist you.

Monument Valley Saga

Now we go with two essential sagas. The first one is ‘Monument Valley’, which has been developed by Ustwo Games. It has two deliveries and both are equally recommended. Each of the games has several puzzles in three dimensions that will play with your perception of space and that you will have to solve to take Ida from one point to another.

Both games are paid, but they are worth every penny. It should be said that are much more enjoyable with headphones, since the soundtrack is very well worked. If you want to “hit the coconut” and relax, ‘Monument Valley’ is a safe option.

Alto Saga

The second saga is ‘Alto’. It is made up of two games and both follow the same mechanics: Alto slides down a slope on his skis and you have to get coins, avoid falling and try to beat your own score. The levels are exquisitely designed and the music is a joy.

Both games they are completely free and can be played offline. As a good casual game that it is, the game lasts as long as you want it to last, so when you reach the end of the journey, just close the application. Both are highly recommended, especially with headphones.

Mini Metro

Another very relaxing game is ‘Mini Metro’. Originally released for PC, in Mini Metro you will have to manage the stops of a metro network and take passengers from one point to another. The “story mode” can be a bit stressful, especially in the final stages of each level when the stations get crowded, but you can play in a casual mode where nothing happens if you leave the passengers waiting.

The levels are representations of the world’s best-known tube lines, such as London, and the interface is very well designed. As we said in the two previous games, it is enjoyed very much, much, much more with headphones. It is not free, but its price is reduced: 1.19 euros.

Geometry Dash

And if you don’t want to relax and what you are looking for is a challenge, Geometry Dash is your game. Drink from the well-known Impossible Game and its offer is simple: many levels, each more complicated, loud electronic music and a mechanic as simple as touching the screen. Well, simple in quotes, because there are maps that are sick.

If you play online you can download the creations of other users, but offline you can access the lot of levels that are pre-installed. As a recommendation, use headphones, because if you manage to synchronize the touches on the screen with the beats of the music, it will be much easier for you to complete the levels. It can be yours for 1.99 euros.
