Wear OS is the system that replaced Android Wear as the official Android-based system for smart watches available in Spain. Despite being designed by Google, the platform has never enjoyed great popularity, and although at the time it had the support of many technological giants, today the protagonists are fashion companies, such as Fossil, or smaller companies such as Mobvoi, artificial intelligence company that has stood out for creating spectacular clocks in the Google system.
One of the most original watches of the company was the TicWatch Pro, a watch that was characterized by having a dual-screen technology and that received a second generation with minor updates and LTE mode. At the end of the year we meet the third generation, a watch that takes a giant leap in all aspects.
I could not say if the 3 is because it is the third generation of TicWatch Pro or because they are 3 the giant leaps that mobvoi has made in Wear OS. While we liked their previous watches a lot, the Wear OS ecosystem had a lot of issues to resolve to compete against the Galaxy Watch and Apple Watch. And it seems that he has greatly reduced the distance.
The jump from Snapdragon 3100 to 4100 is the biggest since Wear OS exists. The jump from 28 to 12 nm in manufacturing and using modern architectures (the Snapdragon Wear 3100 was based on the 2013 Snapdragon 400) makes it almost twice as fast on CPU and memory and 2.5 times faster on graphics.
New Snapdragon Wear 4100: the evolution Wear OS neededThe new Snapdragon Wear 4100 includes all the features Wear OS needed to continue evolving on the right track.
Mobvoi has managed to make a watch that weighs 42 grams and is much thinner than the original TicWatch Pro. Despite the reduction in size, the TicWatch Pro 3 has a larger battery, which increases the autonomy of the watch.
A special feature of the TicWatch Pro 3 is its double screen, which offers us an AMOLED panel for smartwatch functions and an LCD screen like those of traditional ultra-low consumption watches.
Combining both, the Ticwatch Pro has 72 hours of autonomy, much less than the quantifying bracelets but much more than the Apple Watch and some Samsung models. If we switch to essential mode, a mode that measures our activity and gives us the time, the battery grows up to 45 days. It’s not bad at all.
The TicWatch Pro 3 GPS is officially available at a price of 299 euros in Spain, somewhat higher than its predecessor but which makes up for it with a great technological leap. You can get it from Amazon or through the official Mobvoi page.
