Motorola presented three mid-range phones at the beginning of this month, which will be launched in Spain in 2021. The manufacturer’s first high-end phone is now official, after its presentation in China. This new smartphone is the Motorola Edge S, which the brand itself confirmed a couple of weeks ago.

The Motorola Edge S is the brand’s new high-end in China, but it may come with another name in its international launch, because everything indicates that it is the Moto G100 that we told you about yesterday. This new phone goes official in China and is the first phone with Qualcomm’s new high-end chip.

A high end for productivity

The design of the phone is the same as we saw yesterday in the Moto G100, which seems to confirm that they will be the same phone with different names depending on the market. We met with a 6.7 inch size screen, with Full HD + resolution and a double perforation in it, where we have two front cameras (16 + 8 Mpx). Four camera sensors await us at the rear, which are the following:

• 64 Mpx main sensor.
• Ultra wide angle of 121º of 16 Mpx.
• 2 Mpx macro.
• 3D ToF sensor to enhance portraits.

One of the novelties that we find in the Motorola Edge S it’s desktop mode, which could be seen yesterday on the G100. The brand is inspired by other manufacturers such as Samsung or Huawei to be able to connect the phone to a monitor or a computer, thus increasing its possibilities of use. It will make this smartphone a very prominent productivity tool at all times.

As it has been rumored for a while, Snapdragon 870 is the processor of choice for this Motorola Edge S. It is the new high-end chip from Qualcomm, making this new smartphone the first model on the market to make use of it and has 5G thanks to its use. Along with the processor we have a 5,000 mAh capacity battery, with support for 20W fast charging.

Also premieres MYUI, a new interface from Motorola for China. In this interface we find new icons, as well as new functions for device control, with more options for configuration and customization. Features like one-handed control, configuring buttons for certain functions, configuring volume controls, and more.

Price and availability

This Motorola Edge S can be reserved from today in China, the only country in which its launch has been confirmed. Most likely, in Spain and the rest of Europe it will be launched as the Moto G100, which could be officially presented in a few weeks. The device arrives in several versions in China, with prices already confirmed:

• The model with 6/128 GB costs 1,999 yuan (about 255 euros to change).
• The model with 8/128 GB is priced at 2,399 yuan (about 305 euros to change).
• The version with 8/256 GB is priced at 2,799 yuan (about 355 euros to change).
