Huawei has refreshed its mid-range processors with the successor of Kirin 810. The brand has introduced Kirin 820 5Gthe processor in charge of carrying the 5G to the mid-range Huawei and Honor, that in fact we have already seen in the Honour 30S that was just presented in an official way. After weeks of leaks, the chinese brand makes it official this chip.
It can be expected that Kirin 820 5G is going to have a lot of presence in the mid-range Huawei and Honor this year. The brand will feature in a clear way for the 5G in your mid-range, having launched last year Kirin 990, the chip carrying the 5G to the high range of the brand.

So is Kirin 820 5G
As we have mentioned, Kirin 820 5G is the successor of Kirin 810that has had a large presence in the middle range of the brand, but needed as a substitute. In this new processor you can see a number of improvements, although the jump that has been given, apart from the presence of the 5G, it has not been too large. For 5G, use the same modem that we saw in Kirin 990, with support for 5G SA and 5G NSA.
This processor is based on an architecture of 7 nm, composed of four core ARM Cortex A76 and other four ARM Cortex A55. A difference with respect to Kirin 810 is the speed of those cores. Since one of the cores Cortex A76 has in this case a speed of 2.36 GHz and the other three remain at 2.22 GHz. The quad-core Cortex A55 have a speed 1.84 GH. This allows a performance improvement of 27% compared to the previous processor.
In terms of the GPU, Kirin 820 5G makes use of a GPU Mali G57 six-core. As has been said Huawei in its presentation, represents a performance improvement of 38% as compared to Mali G52. This new GPU also has support for GPU Turbo, and Kirin Gaming+ 2.0. On the other hand, uses a NPU integrated in the processor, that’s going to improve the performance of the artificial intelligence of the processor in a 73% with respect to that obtained by Kirin 810.
This new processor account in addition with Kirin ISP 5.0as already happens with Kirin 990. This provides compatibility with the image noise reduction BM3D SLR, noise reduction double domain of video and capture 4K video at 60 fps.
