When the United States modified its block lists to prevent Huawei from collaborating with firms in that country, it executed a plan that had collateral damage. One of the most important was Honor, a company that, although to a certain extent independent, was still part of Huawei.
The conditions that Huawei had also had an impact on Honor in Spain and other western markets by not being able to use Google services and apps or certain hardware components. That is why Huawei sold this division to a conglomerate of Chinese firms.
What he wanted was to be able to operate as other brands such as Vivo, Xiaomi or OPPO do in the rest of the world. Well, we already have the first mobile that emerged after the sale, the Honor View 40.
This first independently launched mobile is a good example of what Honor can look to be. It is a high-end terminal in many respects, but it does not opt for the best specifications in each section.
For example, the processor is a Mediatek Dimensity 1000+, and the RAM of the two variants is 8 GB. There are two options when it comes to internal memory, one with 128GB and one with 256GB.
The screen is 6.72 inches and has an FHD + resolution of 2676 x 1236 pixels, with a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz.
The battery is 4000 mAh, and it has fast charging with 66W cable and 50W wirelessly.
The photographic section stands out for having in front of a 16 Mpx camera and an ambient light sensor. Behind it is a 50 Mpx main sensor, an 8 Mpx wide angle and a 2 Mpx macro. The telephoto we saw in the Honor 30 Pro is missing.
We have other details that are appreciated, such as a double speaker or the presence of an NFC chip.
This mobile arrives with Android 10 based on Android AOSP with Honor’s Magic UI interface. As it has been presented in China, it does not have Google’s services and applications, but it is not clear if it will be able to have them outside, if it were to be sold internationally.
If you can count on them, we hope that Honor will return to Spain as it was a market in which his philosophy fitted very well. The rumors, of course, point to this.
This Honor View 40 will go on sale in China for the moment, in two variants:
