New Exynos 2100: the processor of the Samsung Galaxy S21 is official

This Thursday, January 14 the Galaxy S21 are officially presented, the first high-end that Samsung will launch in Spain this year. Two days before this presentation, Samsung leaves us with another event, the presentation of its new high-end processor, which we will see in these phones, which they already announced in December. Today the new Exynos 2100 is official.

This new Exynos 2100 is a powerful processor, with which Samsung seeks to put an end to the bad reviews and doubts about the performance of its processors. They leave us with a high-power chip, with spectacular graphics performance and reduced power consumption.

New processor

The Exynos 2100 becomes the first Samsung processor to be manufactured in a 5nm process. It is an eight-core processor, with one ARM X-1 cortex, three A-78 cortex and four A-55, which promise great performance. In fact, Samsung says that this processor offers 30% better multi-core performance than its predecessor, Exynos 990. The Cortex-X1 appears on this chip for the first time and ARM says it is 23% faster than the new A’s. -78.

The GPU present in this processor is ARM Mali-G78, a GPU that promises a 40% performance improvement. Artificial intelligence is important in this processor, which has a total of 3 NPUs for better artificial intelligence processing. With this data, the processor promises to be a beast in this field. Thanks to these NPUs, it can process 26 trillion operations per second (TOPS).

Exynos 2100 has support for camera sensors up to 200 Mpx, with the ability to connect and support up to six individual sensors. Plus, you can process four camera sensors at the same time for multi-camera experiences. Video recording is also a highlight in this case, with support for 4K recording at 120 fps and 8K recording at 60 fps. Samsung continues to be one of the driving forces behind 8K in its high-end phones. Thanks to the Multi-Camera Frame Processor (MCFP), the ISP can combine the images from multiple cameras to improve zoom performance and improve image quality for wide-angle shots. The AI acceleration also gives the ISP a function that quickly and smoothly recognizes both scenes, faces and objects and optimally adjusts the camera settings to capture the image in more detail.

5G connectivity It is already mandatory in the high-end range and is integrated into this chip thanks to its 5G modem. Thanks to it, it supports sub-6GHz and mmWave spectra from 2G onwards. The modem can provide a maximum downlink speed of up to 5.1 Gbps in sub-6 GHz and 7.35 Gbps in mmWave.
