A few hours after it becomes official in Spain what will possibly be the last member of the Redmi Note 9 family (the Redmi Note 10 are already beginning to be filtered), Xiaomi has begun updating old models to MIUI 12.
In this case, there are two terminals that are seeing their software updated to the latest stable version of the system.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro and Redmi Note 6 Pro update to MIUI 12
The positive part is obvious, Xiaomi is updating the interface and many mobile functions that were put on sale three years ago, in 2018. The negative part is that this update does not go hand in hand with a new version of Android.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro analysis: the best cheap mobile for selfiesWe tested one of Xiaomi’s best low-mid-range phones, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro, with the best selfie cameras in its category.
And no, it is not that these phones are left without Android 11 for the moment, it is that they do not even jump to Android 10 since they maintain the previous version, Android 9 Pie. It is true that given the amount of modifications that MIUI has on Android, there are not many differences between using one version of the system or another.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro update has the version number V12.0.2.0.PEIMIXM and that of the Redmi Note 6 Pro V12.0.1.0.PEKMIXM. Both occupy about 2 GB.
Both versions are stable betas but in a few days we should see the update of the final models, if there are no problems like those we saw with Android 11 in the Xiaomi Mi A3 recently.
The MIUI 12 entry comes to the Redmi Note 5 Pro and Redmi Note 6 Pro appears first in The Free Android.
