The quarantine has reached the development of software. We knew that for the case of Chrome and Chrome OS, as to what Google announced that the versions 81 was then stopped indefinitely to ensure that everyone could work well and safely. Now it is Microsoft who has taken a similar decision with the updates of Windows 10 and other operating systems.

The Redmond company will pause the optional updates of Windows until further notice by the COVID-19, and give priority to what more it can affect millions of users at this time of confinement, the security updates. These are crucial to ensure that working remotely is not prejudiced by any holes that may open the door to attacks.

Microsoft will no longer distribute updates C and D from may

According To Microsoft, the pause will take effect from the month of mayso there is nothing to fear about the updates of the month of April, where they will be distributed to all. From that moment on, Microsoft will only send the updates to C and D.

Updates C are coming to Windows in the third week of the month, and contain elements that are not security. As says Microsoft’s ownhelp give visibility to changes that will be sent the following month as part of ‘Patch Tuesday’, the famous patches the second Tuesday of each month. Generally include changes to older versions.

Updates D arrive a week later than the C, the fourth of each month, and serve the same function as the C, that the changes can be tested before the two-week wait for the next patch Tuesday. All the C and D are optional and never installed automatically, that is to say, the user has to install them manually.

Finally, las updates B, that yes will continue the chain of normal distribution are the most important, and its exponent are the ‘Patch Tuesday’, with a focus on improving security and privacy.
