Microsoft updates Edge Beta with version 95.0.1020.9: efficiency mode to consume less battery, improved downloads and more

Microsoft has again updated Edge within the Beta Channel. With a cycle that completes every four weeks, Edge now has version 95.0.1020.9 which can be downloaded well from this link on Edge Channels or updating Edge Beta if you already have it installed on your computer.

Edge version 95.0.1020.9 in the Beta Channel reaches computers that use both Windows and macOS and, among other improvements, provides optimization in downloads, a better performance of PDF reading at the point we leave it or the “Efficiency Mode” to minimize battery consumption among other improvements.

  • With the latest version of Edge Beta, comes the compatibility with SharePoint Online libraries. The “View in File Explorer” feature can now be enabled in modern SharePoint Online document libraries. To do this, you must enable the Microsoft Edge policy “Configure the View function in File Explorer for SharePoint pages in Microsoft Edge” and update the SharePoint Online tenant settings. .

  • Now the URL links from the intranet zone file will open in Windows File Explorer. To activate this option, the “IntranetFileLinksEnabled” policy must be enabled.

  • Downloads are optimized, with improvements that now extend to progressive web applications PWA and WebView.

  • The function of drag and drop in File Explorer and on the desktop.

  • Reading of PDF documents is improved by allowing it to pick up where it left off the last time you closed the PDF document.
  • The “Efficiency Mode” is here, which extends the life of the battery when the computer activates the battery saver mode so that from there, the browser will manage the use of resources to extend the life of the battery of the computer. There are four options for when the efficiency mode is activated: “Off and low battery”, “Off”, “Always” and “Never”.

Remember that this version already shows the previously tested improvements within the Canary Channel and the Dev Channel, the most advanced channels. Edge Beta offers the improvements that are about to reach the version for all users and you can use it at the same time that you use the stable version.

You can now download the new Edge Beta (and the other versions) at this link in any of the channels on the platforms on which it is available. If you already have it installed, just go to preferences within the browser and check if you have any pending updates.
