Microsoft teaches the way to install Windows 11 even if our PC does not have the CPU or the compatible TPM chip

Since Windows 11 was announced controversy surrounded the young Microsoft operating system. Many teams could not install it not having TPM 2.0 chip. Since then you complain and along the way, the Windows 11 release for everyone. In that period of time we have seen how it could install Windows 11 on unsupported computers but we did not have help from the own Microsoft.

And it is that from the support page Microsoft itself has revealed a way to hack the installation process so that if a team does not have TMP chip 2.0 but with TPM 1.2, put install Windows 11.

Windows 11 with TPM 1.2 chip

Chip

We have seen alternatives like MediaCreationTool.bat that allow you to skip the rigorous checks. An alternatives to altered ISO images in order to run Windows 11 on unsupported computers. But now we have the help of Microsoft itself.

It is a trick revealed by Microsoft that allows install Windows 11 on those computers that do have TPM support, but in version 1.2 and not in 2.0, which is what is originally necessary. A process that, yes, we must use “under our responsibility”.

To verify that we have a TPM chip we must press the Win + R key combination and type ‘tpm.msc’ below. We will then see the TPM version that we have and whether or not the chip is activated. Once we have this clear information, this is it. if we have TPM activated but only 1.2, we can start the trick.

We will have to access the “Registry Editor” by pressing the Win + R key combination and typing “regedit” in the search box. We must find the path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM Setup MoSetup and in it and right-click on the trackpad or mouse, create a new REG_DWORD value (32 bits) with the name AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU setting its value to ‘1’.

What this method does is prevent the system from blocking the upgrade to Windows 11 when we use the “Installation Wizard” if we do not have the correct version of TPM or CPU. A process that nevertheless has its risks and from Microsoft they remember it clarifying that our team can “experience serious problems if the Registry is incorrectly edited” and that once it is updated to Windows 11, “it is possible that your device does not work correctly”. They wash their hands, obviously.
