Microsoft re-releases a patch for Windows 10 October 2018 Update, now optional and to correct printing problems

Microsoft continues to take care of users who still remain in Windows 10. Because not everything is going to be Windows 11 on PCs with the Windows operating system, now it is the turn of those who continue to use Windows 10 1809 Or what is the same, Windows 10 October 2018 Update.

The new Build arrives with the number 17763.2268, associated with patch KB5006744 in the form of an optional upgrade to Windows 10 1809. It means that you will have to update it by hand in “Advanced Options” in Windows Update. A compilation that arrives for correct printing problems with some brands of printers.

Remember that Windows 10 October 2018 Update is no longer supported and alone has received an update outside of this period. In fact in 2020 and motivated by COVID, they extended the support for this edition for six months for the commercial versions.

In terms of changes, this update fixes the problem of installing printers via Internet Printing Protocol along with other known issues and minor improvements.

Improvements and fixes

  • Fixes a known issue that could prevent the installation of printers that use the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP).
  • Fixed a problem with PropertyGet in JScript9.dll.
  • Addresses an issue where using App-V causes intermittent black screens when logging into the credentials page.
  • Fixed an issue that caused Windows enter BitLocker recovery after a service update.
  • Fixes an issue that causes searchindexer. exe to keep the search database ids per user in the following path after logging out: “C: Users username AppData Roaming Microsoft Search Data Applications ” As a result, searchindexer. exe stops working and duplicate profile names are created.
  • Fixes an issue that causes the DnsPsProvider.dll module to leak memory within a WmiPrvSE.exe process.
  • Fix an issue that prevents Windows 10 virtual private network (VPN) users from connecting to servers Windows Server 2019 Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS).
  • Addresses an issue that prevents software-defined networking (SDN) virtual machines from working when Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) VPN bandwidth throttling is configured.

  • Improves Microsoft Defender for Endpoint’s ability to identify and intercept ransomware and advanced attacks.
  • Fixes a memory leak problem in lsass.ex on domain controllers in the forest root domain that occurs when you have multiple forests and multiple domains in each forest. The SID naming functions leak memory when a request comes from another domain in the forest and crosses the forest boundaries.
  • Improves Windows Server Storage Migration Service by adding support for migration of Windows servers configured with Azure File Sync cloud tiering. Additionally, this update resolves several issues and improves reliability. For more information, see Storage Migration Service Overview.
  • Addresses an issue with the virtual machine (VM) load balancing feature, which ignores the fault domain of a site.

For these two problems you can visit the official Microsoft documentation where they explain how to solve them.
