Microsoft is already testing the patch to fix overconsumption when using File Explorer in Windows 11

A few days ago we saw how users who had opted to install Windows 11 in the global version were encountering a usability problem. The File Explorer was consuming excessive resources what motivated them to start work on a patch to remove this bug.

The patch should arrive, as usual, first to the builds that are distributed in the development channels and Channel Dev is the one chosen to test a new patch through Build 22478 that already downloadable for Windows 11 in the most advanced test channel.

The key is in the command bar

Command Bar

This update includes, along with improvements that we already reviewed the solution to a problem that affects the command bar of “File Explorer”.

Means

Microsoft had replaced the traditional “File Explorer” ribbon with a bar that integrates a set of quick action buttons that change depending on the chosen function in the browser. You can copy, cut, rename, share and delete the file or folder selected, and here seems to be the root of the problem.

Apparently this command bar makes unnecessary calculations when navigating between different folders, which causes drops in computer performance by causing excessive consumption of resources when moving folders or when moving through different options.

Via Build 22478 Microsoft is correcting the errors caused by the command bar of the “File Explorer”. They have removed the “Show hidden items” option which will no longer appear unexpectedly when selecting multiple files

Update

The new Build is already in testing on the Dev Channel and hopefully if everything goes smoothly, should arrive soon to the global version via Build 22000 on Windows 11.
