Microsoft has introduced different sounds in Windows 11: they are now different depending on whether you use dark or light mode

With the arrival of Windows 11 all eyes have been focused on the one hand on the changes at an aesthetic level and on the other hand on improvements that arrive (or they will arrive) as is the compatibility with applications developed for Android. And along with these changes Microsoft has introduced another improvement in relation to Windows sounds.

The warning tones used for various actions, a Windows classic, have seen changes arrive in the latest version of the operating system. Changes that allow subtle appreciation differences depending on whether we are using dark mode or light mode.

Softer sounds for dark mode

They have echoed this change in Bleeping Computer, where they have listed the new sounds comparing them with the existing ones for the clear mode. A novelty that comes with Windows 11 and that causes a whole review of some of the system sounds. Now these sounds change depending on whether we are using the light mode or the dark mode.

For dark mode, the Microsoft team has developed new sounds based on the familiar ones but introducing some small differences. In the words of Microsoft officials: “The sounds of Windows 10 were crisp, literally created with crisp wavelengths. In Windows 11, we focused on making the technology calm. To do this, we needed to re-evaluate our soundscape to also be calm “.

If you use the dark mode and compare the warnings with those offered by the light mode, you can perceive softer sounds, thanks to the use of a rounder wavelength. Personally I consider them as more “intimate”, if that adjective can be used, more relaxed tones.

For his part and in front of the softer sounds of the dark mode, in clear mode sounds are more energetic, perhaps thinking that the dark mode is more used at night and in this way the vibrating sounds are less annoying.

The dark mode thus has ten new and exclusive sounds of the system. For its part, the clear mode sounds are still stored in the path “C: Windows Media” while the new sounds are now located in the path “C: Windows Media dm.”

(function () {window._JS_MODULES = window._JS_MODULES || {}; var headElement = document.getElementsByTagName (‘head’)[0]; if (_JS_MODULES.instagram) {var instagramScript = document.createElement (‘script’); instagramScript.src = “https://platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js”; instagramScript.async = true; instagramScript.defer = true; headElement.appendChild (instagramScript); }}) ();
