Microsoft Announces All the News Coming to Skype: New Design and More Features Coming to Everyone

Microsoft continues working on the development of its own applications and now it is Skype destined to receive improvements and changes. Something that draws attention when in recent presentations we have seen how Microsoft focused on Teams as an app to make video calls.

That said, the company has announced through the Skype blog the improvements and changes that should come soon to the well-known tool for video calls and messaging. New designs, more themes to customize the look, new functions … the list of changes is very long.

A renewed design

Windows

First they refer to a change in the way the grid is organized during video calls. New themes and a renewed design arrive with the possibility of hiding our face in the video call or that it occupies the main screen.

Windows 2

They also improve on live broadcasts, where now the grid changes to avoid minimized view for some users. Everyone will be equally visible, even those who don’t share video. This avoids what happened before if someone shared your screen or activated the Together Mode, which made the video previews in the top bar too small.

{“videoId”: “x8074c7”, “autoplay”: true, “title”: “11 FREE VIDEO CALL PROGRAMS and APPS”}

In the case of video calls and those that only use an audio signal, they can choose to use a background image to that an empty box with a gray background does not appear instead.

They are getting ready changes in function “Meet Now” or “Meeting now”. A tool that we saw as allowed users to join calls without registering or installing the application. To make it more attractive, invitation links now have a new look with the name and avatar of the call.

In addition, they assure that they have improved the performance of Skype and cite an optimization of “30% on computers and more than 2,000% on Android.” They also announce that Skype it will improve usability by being compatible with all all browsers no matter what device, platform or browser is being used.

Mobile

In the case of using Skype on iOS or Android, camera usability has been enhanced with the Office Lens feature, allowing you to capture memories, create videos, or scan documents, whiteboards, and business cards for easier sharing.

Twincam

There is also a function called “TwinCam”, so that we can use the phone to create, with just a QR code, create another call that joins the conversation giving another different angle of view.

Reactions

Reactions on calls with a new reaction selector that will allow you to choose any emotion with a new search engine, organized by category sensation reactions, and added pinned elements to keep favorite reactions with a click.

Translator

Skype Universal Translator also arrives, an integrated tool that allows you to communicate with anyone in any language, through a landline or a video call. A real-time translator built into Skype.

These improvements should be coming to Skype progressively over the next few months, so we will be aware of the changes that may take place.
