Life-size cars in augmented reality: the latest innovation from Google

In Spain the augmented reality of Google search has more and more options. Already at the beginning of the year we saw how it allowed us to show 3D animals in the middle of our room directly from Google search.

This feature has been expanding to more and more areas, being able to see dinosaurs or even fictional characters like Baby Yoda when searching. Google is starting to roll out a new feature that, while not that fun, can be very practical.

Cars in life-size augmented reality

Although Google announced this function some time ago, it was not until today that it began to roll out it for everyone. In the same way as the rest of the experiences available, both from the Google application and in web search.

Google has added more than 250 cars to its search engine, cars that are rendered in the Google cloud to, according to Rajan Patel (VP of engineering at Google), offer the most photorealistic experience possible.

To do this, it is necessary to have an ARCore-compatible mobile and look for one of the available models (in our case, we have tested with the Volvo XC40 Recharge). In Google search the button will appearView in 3D that we will have to press.

Once we press we can see the car in three dimensions. If we pressSee in your space, using the mobile camera we can superimpose it in the real world. This function allows us, among other things, to see the car in the real world to be able to check how much space it would occupy in the garage.

On Android, we launched our first cloud streamed 3D content in Search, enabling users to see cars in high fidelity and with a set of cinematic 3D backgrounds to get the most photorealistic 3D experience to date. In addition to this possibility, within the Google application we can see the car in different scenarios, change car models or even see the same model with any of the available colors, being quite impressive.
