LG is one of the most historic companies in Android, having been present in Spain since the beginning of the mobile operating system. Despite its seniority, the company has been dragging losses for years and after several restructurings they have not managed to achieve the expected profits.

The company appears to be fed up with the situation and recently stated that it was time to think cold-minded and that they would weigh all options, including closing the division. It seems that this will finally be the path that South Koreans end up choosing.

LG’s mobile division could be facing its end. According to the top leader of the division, they are considering all the possibilities in view of the future.

Several weeks ago we learned that LG was evaluating all kinds of options for the future of its mobile division. At first it seemed that Vingroup, the group that BQ bought in the past, would take over the division, but it seems that the negotiations were not successful.

According to an anonymous official source, LG would have had talks about the sale of the mobile division, but apparently there is no great progress in the negotiations. Both a complete sale of the mobile division and a partial sale would be very difficult. Right now, the most plausible option would be to close the division, and although there will be no final decision yet, whichever path you choose would make it official at the next shareholders’ meeting at the end of the month.

Regarding the workers in the mobile division, when LG stated that they were evaluating all possible options, they especially emphasized that there would be no layoffs and that all employees would retain their jobs, being transferred to other divisions with almost total security.

Today, buying a LG mobile has becomeon a risky bet. If its update schedule already did not leave good indications, the situation of uncertainty makes it more difficult to trust the company when it comes to mobile devices.
