In Spain, cyberattacks are the order of the day, and many of them can be avoided with a good password policy. One of the best options is to use a password manager, which allows us to have to remember only one password and the rest can be so complex to guess that no one can steal them.
In Android we have multiple options of password managers, such as the native Google or Samsung Pass if you use a Samsung mobile. However, there are also independent services that provide us with great reliability, such as LastPass, a service that from now on will be considerably worse in its free mode.
LastPass is one of the best solutions on the market in terms of password management, a solution that a server uses in its day to day when using devices of all possible brands (Windows, Linux, Android, Mac and iOS) and that very soon will have important changes in its free mode.
As the company itself has anticipated, free users will see their functionality cut short, and is that as of March 16, our account will be limited to one type of device. This does not directly mean that you can only use it on a single device, but that you can continue to use it on all the devices that you want to be in the same group. The groups will be:
The change of modality exclusively affects those who use LastPass for mobile and computer, which from now on will have to pay 2.9 euros per month (or 3.9 for a family plan that provides us with up to 6 premium licenses). As of March 16, the first device you log in to will determine which group of devices you will use, although you can change groups up to 3 times to check which one is best suited to your use.
If you use LastPass only on mobile devices or only on computers this change should not affect you. On a personal level, I am not sure if I will continue with the free version, I will end up paying the subscription or I will take the opportunity to change the service. However, in the area of password management, what matters most is reliability, so it is possible that you continue to trust them, despite the jug of cold water that they have poured on their users.
The LastPass ticket radically changes its free version: you will no longer be able to use it on PC and mobile appears first in The Free Android.
