It’s official: Gmail ceases to be an e-mail application

Just a few hours ago, we met through a leak how would be the future of Gmail, a future in which the application becomes a client of e-mail to become much more.

The big G has not wanted us to expect too much from this filtration, and has officially announced how they are going to reinvent their e-mail client.

If there is something that the current situation has made clear is that even the more sophisticated applications still have a lot of room for improvement for a remote work. After months of work, Google has decided that, given that all working day begins by reading the email, is Gmail to become the central axis of telework.

And thus have done with the new Gmail, an application that is no longer e-mail to offer much more.

Don’t panic, the e-mail doesn’t disappear from the app, and surely will continue to be the backbone of the experience, but from now on you will have to share space with Chat Rooms and Meet.

While Chat and Meet do not have a great mystery to be of the features previously found in Hangouts, if we see integrations such as Salesforce, Trello, or Docusign.

Rooms is one of the sections most important, by providing room to work, chat groups, in which we have access to documents or lists of tasks.

It also gets a new do not disturb mode in the application, which not only silences all the notifications, but in addition will warn the rest of the members in a group that we’re not going to be able to respond until a certain time.

All of these changes to Gmail are coming first to the G Suite, the professional version and pay of Google apps, so if in your company you can count on this version to work you should not take on to see the changes.

What if I want to have this Gmail in the free version of Google apps? The company has not yet detailed a date of availability, but it is hoped that over the course of weeks to finish reaching all the world.
