If you use Windows 11 you can now download the PowerToys directly from the Microsoft App Store

With the launch of Windows 11 we saw how Microsoft had in its plans to strengthen the Application Store. Unlike what happens with iOS, to cite an example, the Microsoft Store is very wasted. And the first step is none other than bringing your own applications to the Store, something they now do with the popular PowerToys.

The PowerToys are the set of Microsoft tools that allow access to new functions with which to enhance the usability of our computers. In fact, this week we talked about a new experimental feature to mute video calls. And now, along with the download from Github, can also be downloaded from the Microsoft Store.

From Microsoft Store or Github … it’s almost the same

Among the advantages that Windows offers is that we can download applications from almost anywhere and the official application store is clearly at a disadvantage. It’s about luring developers to hang up their apps, and Microsoft starts its own. And it all starts with doing it with your own applications.

Thus PowerToys tools can now be downloaded from the Microsoft Store for Windows 11 from this link. A remarkable change, because until now you had to go to Github to get the latest version available.

The PowerToys application that can be downloaded in Windows 11 from the Microsoft Store is essentially the same as the one available on Github, although what it does not offer is access to beta versions. In addition, and according to comments in XDA Developers, through the Microsoft Store updates are not managed and we must download them by hand.

This is just a first step for Microsoft to bring all its own applications to the Microsoft Store. This is how Microsoft Edge, Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code have already done it and little by little other important applications of the company will have to do it.
