Huawei opens its ecosystem of watches to third-party apps starting with Fitify training and its Watch GT2 Pro

Huawei is determined to make its wearables even more competitive and for this it is trying to open its ecosystem to other possibilities. For example, to allow a much closer interaction with applications designed by third parties, something that until now was unthinkable for the Huawei Watch and company.

That is why the Chinese multinational has opened its doors to this close interaction for the first time and those chosen have been the members of the Fitify. The app is now compatible with the Huawei Watch GT2 Pro away from China, globally, and promises to be the first of many others.

The Huawei Watch GT2 Pro integrates with the app

Fifity is an application dedicated to exercise, to propose routines and all kinds of workouts to your more than 10 million users across the planet. In the Fitify database we can currently find a repertoire of more than 900 different exercises for a multitude of disciplines, and there are already more than 200 million workouts completed in it.

The app, which is present in 170 countries and has been translated into a total of 18 languages, is now compatible with the Huawei Watch GT2 Pro. Now we can use the Huawei watch in Fitify as a companion to the application itself, dedicating itself to inform us of how we are doing and to take all kinds of measurements that will be later stored in the app.

What’s more, we will have different interactive options on the clock screen to control the app remotely, so that we can leave our mobile phone parked during exercise to focus only on sweating and getting fit. In this way, Huawei finally opens its ecosystem of watches to third-party apps.

For this integration, Fitify has had to adapt to Huawei Mobile Services using up to five integration kits designed ex profeso. Huawei expects Fitify to be the first of many, although at the moment we do not know if more smartwatches from the Huawei family will join this integration program with the App Gallery apps.
