As time goes by, our electronic devices are becoming forms of administrative procedures of all kinds. Biometric security measures such as fingerprint recognition or facial recognition help a lot in this regard. This means that, thanks to biometric technology, we can access sensitive information of all kinds with our phones, such as the one contained in the electronic DNI, so that we can use it as a secure authentication method on the Internet. In this article we will tell you everything you need to know how to use your Android device to read your electronic ID safely.

How to read the electronic DNI with the mobile

Before going into the matter, it should be mentioned that you must have the most recent DNIe model, the one that includes the NFC chip and is known as DNI 3.0 (at least). This chip stores personal information that is accessible when you bring the phone close to the card.

Although the NFC chip is used to read any type of information, in the case of reading the DNIe it is not so simple. In this way, it is avoided that third parties with unclear intentions can, with the appropriate tools, read the data of any DNI.

First of all, make sure your phone has NFC. If you open the drop-down menu in your terminal, you should find it there:

If it is deactivated, click on it to activate it. Alternatively, you can find it on the route Settings> Connection and sharing> NFC:

Keep in mind that this route may vary depending on the terminal model and its manufacturer. Once you have all this, you will have to download DNIeSmartConnect and DNIeRemote from the buttons that you will find below.

Once you have downloaded and installed these applications, first open the one on your mobile phone and click on Skip assistant and go to connection selection:

Then select the WiFi connection:

Now, on your PC, go to the system tray and right-click on the DNIeRemote icon. In the menu that appears, select Generate QR for WiFi connection:

Then, hold the DNIe towards the back of the phone until it emits a slight vibration. To finish the link, enter the pin code of your electronic ID. If you do not know it, you can request it at the police stations where the document is sold.
