How to test self-destructing WhatsApp messages

The messages that self-destruct They are one of the most recent functions to enter WhatsApp, a function that the application itself announced last week. In that announcement it was said that this function was going to arrive throughout the month of November in Spain and that moment is already official. The messages that self-destruct are official and you can test them now in the new beta of the app.

This function in WhatsApp allows the messages you have sent in a specific chat, both group and personal, will be deleted after 7 days. A measure with which the application seeks to improve privacy in user conversations.

This is how temporary messages are activated in WhatsApp

This feature comes under the name Temporary Messages to the application. It is something that we will be able to activate in each chat individually, that is, it is not something that we can activate and apply to all conversations. Rather, we will have to choose in which conversations we want this to happen. If you want to test these messages, the steps to follow are:

  1. Open WhatsApp on your mobile.
  2. Enter the chat whose messages you want to delete.
  3. Click on the name of that contact.
  4. Go to the Temporary messages option.
  5. Click on Continue.
  6. In the new window that appears, click on Activated to activate these temporary messages.
  7. New messages you send will be deleted after 7 days.

The period that must elapse until these messages are deleted is 7 days and it is not something that can be modified, at least for now. It is not known if in the future the application will give more options in this regard. By having this function activated, we will not have to do anything and those messages will be deleted automatically. Although the app itself warns that the recipient could save those messages in another place, if for example you have exported the chat, so it is not a measure that will always be equally effective.

These self-destructing messages can be try now in the new beta of WhatsApp, which we can download on Android. This is version 2.20.206.10 of the application.

The entry How to test the messages that self-destruct on WhatsApp appears first in The Free Android.
