With the arrival of Windows 11 we have faced a series of novelties. Changes of different types and applications that are updated offering new functions. We already saw how changed the “Snipping Tool and now we are going to review how to take a screenshot in Windows 11.
There are things that do not change with respect to what we already knew about Windows 10. Through a series of keyboard shortcuts we can capture the content that appears on the screen. Now We will go over these methods and how to use the “Snipping Tool”.
The simplest method is the one offered by the key. “Print Screen” (Print Screen). With this system what we do is capture everything that appears on the screen and store it on the clipboard and then use it with any of the applications that we have installed.
The second method is the one that combines the keys “Print Pant + Win”. This system to capture the screen saves a file in .PNG format in the “Screenshots” folder under “Images”.
The third method to capture the screen in Windows 11 comes with the key combination “Windows + Shift + S” and it is the one that gives access to a series of tools that allow us to determine the area of the screen that we want to capture.
{“videoId”: “x84nx6m”, “autoplay”: true, “title”: “WINDOWS 11 from ZERO: REQUIREMENTS, INSTALLATION AND START UP”}
And it is through these tools that we can obtain a plus in terms of functions, since it avoids us having to open an extra application, either from Microsoft itself or from third parties. When using “Windows + Shift + S” We will see how four options appear:
Each of these options allow different possibilities. In the case of “Rectangular cutout” what we can do is select a rectangular area of the area that we want to capture.
With option “Free form clipping” the area we select will be personalized, with the shape we want.
If we choose “Window clipping” what it does is ask for the window we want to capture and capture only the content that appears in that window by storing it on the clipboard.
Finally, with “Full screen cropping” what we do is take a screenshot of the entire screen in the same way that we would do with the “Imp Screen” key combination, content that is saved on the clipboard.
All these possibilities are increased if we use the “Snipping Tool”. We can activate it by writing clippings in the search box on the taskbar and at that moment we see how it offers options such as the delay time in the capture, where we can choose between intervals of 3, 5 and 10 seconds or the area we want capture.
The options offered in the control menu are the same as we have seen before (rectangular, free-form, window or full-screen cropping). By clicking on the “+” symbol for a new snip or on the “Win + Shift + S” key combination. Again the four options, but here the novelty is that at the end of the capture a menu called Snipping Tool appears, with different options.
We can write on screen with two types of lettering and different thickness and colors. We can erase what we have written but we can also display a ruler or protractor on the screen, cut out or write on a touch screen.
These are the editing options, since we can also share that content with other applications, save it as a file on the PC or store it on the clipboard.
Along with all these methods we can also use the Xbox Gamebar to take a screenshot. Depending on the content on the screen, we can make a capture or record a video (not all applications are compatible) in PNG and MP4 formats in the case of video.
To access the Xbox Gamebar we can use the key combination “Windows + G” or type Gamebar in the search bar and open the utility.
We will see a series of options. Capture screen, the first icons, It offers the same functions as if we use the combination “Win + Print Screen”, generating a .PNG file that is stored in the “Screenshots” folder.
On the other hand, if we click on the button to “Record video” (“Win + R”), video recording starts, recording that we can stop by pressing the square button “Stop”. In this case, the recorded content is stored in the “Captures” folder under “Video”.
These are the possibilities that Windows 11 offers when capturing what appears on the screen and we are the ones who have to decide which one best suits our needs.
