Whatsapp

There are many methods to send files between two mobile phones and we did it years ago over Bluetooth, we can do it over WiFi and there are many apps for this. But WhatsApp and Telegram are always our first options, messaging applications that we always have at hand. We send photos every day but you can also send music and videos through WhatsApp easily.

We know how to send images and we do it practically every day, but we also explain how you can send photos without losing quality or how we can use WhatsApp to send music and videos. A song that you have recorded, a song that you like and want to share with someone, a video of a performance at school, a curious video … It is enough that you have it on your mobile phone so that you can send it by WhatsApp without any problem .

What can we send by WhatsApp?

When it comes to sending content via WhatsApp we know that we can quickly send a photograph by opening the camera directly from the app if we do not want anything specially elaborated or we can send an image that we have in the gallery, for example. But we can also send music and video if we are using WhatsApp. Of course, the way to share it is different since the app does not have a specific button where you put “Music” or “Song” or “Video”. But we can do it and we explain what steps you should follow.

When it comes to touching the WhatsApp clip, we see seven options:

  • Document
  • Camera
  • Gallery
  • Audio
  • Living room
  • Location
  • Contact

Most of them you will know what they are. Camera and gallery we usually use them to send photos, for example. Room allows us to make a video call room in which several people can join in a kind of video group chat and location allows us to send an exact location at that moment or the location in real time for several hours. But how do we send music or how do we send audio? The steps are the following.

Share music on WhatsApp

Through WhatsApp we can send two types of audio: recorded with the microphone that we find in the different chats or by tapping on the clip and in “Audio” where we can send more complete messages. But here we can also send songs.

You may have a song of your own that you have recorded. For example, if you have recorded yourself playing the piano or you have recorded your child singing the carol of his Christmas show and you want to share it with the grandparents. In this case, we need to tap on “Audio” and look for the file in the internal memory of the phone or on the SD card, depending on the mobile of each one.

The steps are simple:

  • Open WhatsApp
  • Go to the conversation where you want to share music or a song
  • Tap on the clip that we see in the window to write the message
  • Choose “Audio” among the seven different options

Once here, the most recent audios will appear on your mobile phone so you will see it immediately if you have just recorded it. If you have several names, WhatsApp allows you to press “play” before sending it to make sure that it is the one you want to send. You will see the name of the audio, how long it lasts (in minutes and seconds) and how much the file weighs. Once you have hit “play” to find out what it is, you can hold it down and tap on the green arrow in the lower right corner to send. As you will see, following this process we can not only attach an audio but you can choose several from the list and send.

Send videos

You can send videos in two ways: from the gallery or from the “documents” folder. When you touch on the WhatsApp clip and see the seven options mentioned above, you can choose “Gallery” and all your folders with multimedia content will open. Although it may depend on the mobile phone, you will usually find a folder that indicates “All your videos” in addition to the different folders in the gallery where you can enter to share the videos.

You will know that it is a video and not a photograph because a small camera icon will appear at the bottom left of the thumbnail. Choose the one you want and attach it to the WhatsApp conversation to send it. You can select several holding down all the items you want from the gallery, as in the attached screenshot. It is enough to mark the videos and send although keep in mind that they may take a little longer than usual to load depending on their weight.

Send all kinds of files at once

Another option we have to send videos (and photographs if we want them to be sent in the highest quality and resolution without WhatsApp editing them) is not to touch on “Gallery” but to do so on “Documents”. That is, the steps would be:

  • Open WhatsApp
  • Tap on the conversation clip to send
  • Choose the “Document” section

Once here the documents of your mobile phone will be opened, generallye files in .PDF format and others. But you can also touch on “explore other documents” and from here you can go to the folders of images, audio, videos and even Google Drive, for example. Enough that look for the video you want (or even the song if you want to attach an audio) and tap on “Done” at the top. You can attach as many files as you need to upload to that WhatsApp chat.

One of the benefits of betting on this route and choosing “documents” is that we can vary and send several different formats at once. That is, by doing this you can send videos and music to WhatsApp or photos at the same time. It is enough to go choosing the different files in the list before clicking on “Done”.

Send from WhatsApp Web

From WhatsApp Web we can also send practically anything and it is even simpler because it will be enough that we have the file on the computer to attach it. You simply must haveopen WhatsApp Web and the file location (if it is the download folder, the pictures folder, the music folder)

With your computer mouse, click in the File (video or music or whatever you want) and drag it to WhatsApp conversation where you want to send it. Once the preview appears, confirm with the green arrow button.
