Although in the long run, it can eat up a good chunk of phone storage.
Especially the files that are sent in the chats in Telegram, such as photos, videos or files, they are something that take up a lot of space on the phone. Especially since there are times when we simply need them for a specific moment. Therefore, the app has a possibility to establish how long we want it to keep these multimedia files.
7 years of Telegram: its 7 best featuresTelegram celebrates seven years on Android with the arrival of video calls. Over the years the app has left us with seven very outstanding functions.
Choose how long Telegram will keep your files
Telegram has a section where we can manage application storage usage, with a series of functions that will allow us to prevent the files that you send us from being stored indefinitely on the phone, for example, avoiding unnecessary storage space consumption. It’s a very simple trick that allows storage to fill up. The steps to configure this are:
- Open Telegram on your phone.
- Click on the three horizontal stripes in the upper left.
- Enter the application Settings.
- Go to the Data and storage section.
- Go to Storage usage.
- Go to the “Preserve multimedia” option.
- Select how long you want to keep media files.
The application gives you several options in this section, where you can determine how long you want those multimedia files from your chats to be kept on the phone. Whenever you want, you can modify this, but if you see that your storage space is somewhat limited at the moment and you have been sent a lot of large files through this app, you can reduce that time to the minimum that is established. It will allow easier management of storage usage.
