The truth is that some layers from various manufacturers already allow you to customize the size of the icons in the apps, although in a very limited way. With this Nova Launcher tool, we will be able to change the icons individually and without influencing any other part of the system.
How to resize icons in Nova Launcher
There are applications or launchers that allow us customize its appearance, the grid and even its size independently. And Nova Launcher is able to do it through its settings, so let’s see how to increase or decrease the icons of the apps.
Once you have installed, started Nova Launcher and configured as the main launcher of the terminal, you can start with the guide to change the size of the icons. Do it like this:
- Hold down on an empty spot on the desktop and click on ‘Settings’.
- Go to ‘Desktop’ and then to ‘Icon layout’.
- In ‘Icon size’ you have a selector to change the dimensions of the shortcuts: adjust it as you wish.
- Also, in the above menu of ‘Desktop Grid’ you can customize icon rows and columns. By altering their number you also change the size.
- After resizing the desktop icons, you must change the dimensions of the icons in the application drawer. Choose that menu in Nova Launcher settings (‘App Drawer’).
- Go to ‘Icon layout’, uncheck the ‘Adjust desktop size’ option and change the size of the icons with the horizontal selector.
- Additionally, you can change the drawer grid: depending on the number you will see the icons smaller or larger.
Other ways to resize in apps
As we have said before, there are layers that already include some other tool to modify the size of the icons if we do not want to install a second launcher in the terminal. However, we run the risk of changing the size of other parts of the system, but to taste colors.
Changing the desktop grid
This way allows us to increase or decrease the grid of apps. In other words, we can alter the number of rows and columns that will appear on the device; resulting in larger icons, when we reduce the number of the grid, or smaller, whenever you increase the grid.
For this process we only need to do the following:
- Hold down on a free space on your mobile desktop and wait for the start menu options to appear.
- Select startup settings.
- Look for a menu similar to ‘Grid’. The specific name may vary.
- You will see some combinations of rows and columns appear: you should only choose the lowest numbers if you want the large icons and the highest if you want to reduce these icons.
Changing the screen density
It gives the same effect as the previous method, only that we alter the density of the screen instead of the grids, so that we can modify the full screen size.
That is, not only does it change the size of the icons but of all the elements that appear on the screen, a problem that we have already mentioned before. To do this, we have to enter ‘Configuration’, ‘Settings’ and ‘Screen’.
