When it comes to customizing the wallpaper of our PC we have a large number of options that happen from proposals from Microsoft itself until third-party alternatives. And within the latter figure, Wallpaper Engine, an application that I have been testing and that allows to use animated photos on Windows PC.
Wallpaper Engine is a payment application, with a cost of only 3.61 euros, which allows personalize your PC desktop with animated backgrounds of different themes and with resolutions adapted to the screen we use. A tool that we can download through Steam.
We can download Wallpaper Engine from this link. It takes us to a payment gateway where we can use a credit card or PayPal. It is $ 3.99 than with the conversion become 3.61 euros.
Once purchased, we will have to access the email that we have used for the purchase to activate the license number, a process that we will have to carry out through the Steam website, so if you don’t have an account, you will need to open it. It is free, so in that sense there is no problem.
Once the code has been confirmed on Steam, we have to click on “Start”, a green button, so that the download of the application starts. In my case, about 610 megabytes in a process that has taken a couple of minutes.
We will then see a series of windows to configure Wallpaper Engine the first time we start it. From the quality of the backgrounds that we are going to use to the type of color, parameters that however we can later change in “Setting” from the “Taskbar”.
The application installs a series of funds by default, but we can subscribe and use all that it offers in the catalog. For it we can use the search engine and the different filters it offers, either by theme, resolution, age classification …
All these functions affect the funds … but we can also change the “screensavers” used on the PC. We can make Wallpaper Engine the default screensaver and replace the one that comes with Windows.
If we enter “Setting” And when changing screensavers, the app takes care of the rest, and can also make it match or not the wallpaper used.
One of the doubts I had was how Wallpaper Engine would impact the performance of the PC and when checking it in the “Resource Monitor” I have observed that the CPU consumption is very low, so even on less powerful computers it should work. In addition, I have to take into account that I have “put it to the top” in the graphic aspect, so if these parameters are lowered the consumption should be lower.
The use of Wallpaper Engine has been more than satisfactory, for the amount of options it offers to customize the appearance of the PC and also for having an affordable price and without having to pay a subscription.
