How to delete your account Houseparty in Android

Yesterday it spread like wildfire through social networks the news that HouseParty was hacked, a news that their creators have denied, claiming that it could be a campaign to damage the reputation of the application (and even offer a reward for anyone who of information on this). Be that as it may, if for whatever reason you want to delete your account, the bad news is, the option does not exist in Android.

Today, the rumors that have been hacked Houseparty does not seem to be so many other hoaxes that run the internet, but if you installed it in his day and no longer use it, it never hurts to delete the account to reduce the traces you leave across the network. If you want to do, in the Houseparty for the iPhone you can do it from the menus, but that option does not exist in Android, how can you do it then?

The party is over

If you want to delete your account HouseParty on an iPhone, you can do it from the settings > Privacy > Delete accountbut on Android the menu simply opens the privacy policywithout any sub-menu within. There is an easy way to delete the account from Androidalthough that does not mean it is impossible.

While we wait for that option to be added to Android, the own privacy policy states that you can to request the removal of your account via an e-mail in which you’ll have to include some personal data to verify your identity.

When otherwise permitted by applicable law, you may send an e-mail to hello@houseparty.com or use any of the methods set out in this privacy Policy to request access, receive, request, rectify or request deletion of the personal information we hold about you.

Include your full name, e-mail address associated with your account and a detailed description of your data request. Such requests will be processed in accordance with local laws. With regard to requests for removal, we will take steps to delete your information as soon as possible, but some information may remain in archived / backup for our records or as otherwise required by law.

That is to say, while there is no option to delete the account by yourself, you’ll need to write an e-mail to hello@houseparty.com including what you want to do (delete your account), your full name and e-mail address associated with the account. It is not indicated, although it may be a good idea to include the phone number of the account.

The privacy policy states that it will take steps to delete your information “as soon as possible”, so that it is not known with certainty how long it can take to delete your account. While the exaggerated stories of hacking Houseparty does not seem to be hoaxes, the truth is that as a social network it is a bit disappointing that you do not include the option to delete the account in the application itself, at least in its version for Android.
