What is Action Blocks?
It is an app created by Google, which is used to create shortcuts to apps or routes and that can be placed on the screen. These shortcuts work elbow with elbow with Google Assistant, that is to say, every action we do will be through the wizard, replacing our voice to activate it. In this way, the mission of Action Blocks is to give exit to the problems that are encountered by people with any cognitive disability or that belong to the third age and make, in short, the management of the technology easier.
However, the rest of mortals we can take advantage of this tool so useful. This saves us the search in the personal assistant of the most everyday in the day-to-day, as may be the query of the time, the agenda or opening the app music. So, it is not necessary to repeat voice these actions, simply with a touch you already have done.
These keyboard shortcuts work as pictograms. In other words, they do not show the actions explicitly in words, but are represented through figures, although they may add a title to the said pictogram. Of course, you can resize the desktop to different sizes. The drawback is that the app is in Englishalthough the assistant plays back the actions in the language that is configured by default.
How to create widgets with buttons in Action Blocks
With the app installed in the Play Store, the way in which you create these widgets or glyphs is very simple. The interface Action Blocks, we select a number of basic tasks, like play music, set an alarm or check the alarm, even though there are more tasks that can be customized. In addition, we can produce as many as we want, free of charge, so that the idea becomes much more attractive. Let’s go with some examples:
- In the main menu, we headed to the button “Create Action Block”. Once there, we choose the task you want to run, either an alarm, open an app, a reminder, or to lock the terminal.
- In this case, we have chosen to open the Spotify app with a simple touch. To do this, we write the order for Google Assistant, which will be enough to put a ‘Spotify’. We can perform a test for which the order has been clear.
- If you’re satisfied, click on “Next”. In the next menu, we can put an owner customized the widget, as well as an image header, either the gallery app or from our terminal.
- Finally, the app asks us if we want to add the widget to the desktop screen. We confirm it and immediately be added to the shortcut. A point is important is that some times often does not work, so that we maintain and hold the icon of the floating window to add it manually. However, these widgets can edit or delete when we want, simply re-enter the application.
