How to activate the mode 96Hz on a Samsung Galaxy S20 through an application

The Samsung Galaxy S20 have come up with a function that is intended to be a new standard: the refresh rate of 120Hz. The first time we saw this technology in Android it was through the Razer Phone, phone a pioneer in this technology, which failed to expand in subsequent years. 2020 is the year of the high rates of soft drink, with 90Hz as the new basis, even for mid-range models like the Realme 6 and with prominence, as it could not be otherwise, in high-end mobile as the Google Pixel 4the Xiaomi Mi 10 or the Huawei P40 Pro.

From XDA Developers have managed to create an application that allows you to switch between the mode of 120 Hz and a new way of 96Hz. The function is raised to reduce the high impact energy of the 120Hz, but without abandoning the path to a refresh rate high.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 can drop to 96Hz

The Samsung Galaxy S20 (as well as his two brothers) have a configuration screen that allows you to adjust or Full HD+ to 120Hz or Quad HD+ at 60Hz. We did not find any type of settings average around 90Hz. Through XDA Labs can be accessed by an application that allows you to change the settings in the panel to 96Hz. It is an intermediate point between the 60 and 120Hz oriented mainly to minimize the energy expenditure, which is quite high in the case of 120Hz.

The app does not require root or any modifications in the system, just installed, you are given permissions and it works

Apart from being curious to getting the hertz beyond what allows the manufacturer, this is the first time that is achieved that an application can do this without special permissions. There has already been similar attempts to do this, as in the case of the Xiaomi Mi 9T. Using a MOD we managed to climb the hertz panel up to 75though the method of installation was quite complex and required both root as a recovery modified.

In the case of the S20 simply download the application and change from a bar of shortcuts to the hertz of the screen. You have to take into account that even if it’s through an app is a modification relatively deep in the system, so there is low risk of the user to activate or not the function. In Reddit a good number of users are commenting that the app works without problems, yes.
