How to activate Google Discover and customize the feed

It is a very useful tool, but it may not be to everyone’s taste. It is a function that is included natively and that can be annoying for any user.

How to activate Google Discover

Proceed both to its activation and deactivation it is possible in the Google application settings. The steps to follow to perform either of the two actions are the same, so you will not have problems in any case. The steps to follow are those:

1. Open the Google app
2. Click on «More».
3. Go to the “Settings” section.
4. Go to «General».
5. Look for the section called «Discover».
6. Deactivate or Activate the switch, depending on whether we want to use Google Discover or not.

With these steps we already have Google Discover on or off on the phone. If it has been deactivated, we will no longer have that section on the phone when we slide the phone screen to the left. However, it must be borne in mind that many manufacturers already influence their own feed, making it impossible to make that gesture to the left.

Customize your Google feed

Taking advantage of the fact that we are already in that menu, we can customize the aesthetics of the interface, such as activate dark mode

. To do this, you just have to go down to the end of the «General» menu where you see the option “Theme”. With that little note made, we continue with the customization of what the feed of news.

To let Google Discover know what topics we are interested in, we simply click on the three points of each tab that appears, and a floating menu will appear with the “I’m not interested” option. From there, no news related to that topic will come out. In the same way, we can also choose whether a media we don’t like it in general, making it disappear from feed in the same menu.

On the other hand, it is possible that there is some topic or medium that we don’t want it to disappear completely, even if your traffic decreases in our Google Discover. To control the frequency, in the lower right corner of each tab there is a button that, when pressed, two options will appear with “More and less”. We already know that depending on the option we choose, the theme or medium will appear or decrease its repetition.
