Honor reaffirms its independence: agreements with MediaTek, Qualcomm and more

The objective for this 2021 of Honor is to recover its position in markets such as Spain, where they have lost presence due to Huawei’s veto. In November, the sale of the secondary firm was confirmed, which becomes independent of Huawei in this way. One of the consequences of this sale is that the firm will be able to use Google applications and services again, something they are already working on.

The brand today unveiled its first phone in its post-Huawei era, the Honor View 40. This smartphone comes with MediaTek 1000+ as processor, thus confirming the agreement that the firm has closed with MediaTek. Although it is not the only company with which they have closed an agreement.

Honor reaffirms its independence from Huawei

The new Honor View 40 arrives with a MediaTek processor inside. This presentation has served to confirm the mobile manufacturer’s agreement with MediaTek, so that we will be able to see more mobile phones of the brand using MediaTek chips starting this year. Furthermore, it would not be the only agreement they have signed in recent weeks.

As reported by Reuters recently, the brand would have already closed collaboration agreements with Qualcomm, Intel, AMD, Microsoft, Samsung, Sony, Micron Technology and SK Hynix. According to the president of the brand, these coming months will focus on expanding its product portfolio, with smartphones in various segments, in addition to working on Internet of Things devices.

Huawei’s independence also means that Honor will be able to use Google services and applications on its phones again. The brand is already working on phones that have them, which could arrive as of this spring. It would also be a new family of devices, at least that is how the data that has come so far indicates.

2021 will be a key year for the manufacturer, which begins a new era. The agreements with MediaTek, Qualcomm and more are an important step in this advance, so we will surely see Honor phones with processors from these two brands throughout the year.

The Honor entry reaffirms its independence: agreements with MediaTek, Qualcomm and more appear first in The Free Android.
