Google TV will have a basic mode for those who do not want a smart TV

At the end of last year we met in Spain the Chromecast with Google TV, a system that went a step beyond Android TV by including a new layer of personalization designed by Google to offer a content experience in streaming more homogeneous.

We still have a lot to know about this system that continues to evolve, and as we can know thanks to the guys from 9to5 Google, this system will have a basic mode available. What is it and what is it for?

Google TV’s basic mode takes us back to an era without smart TVs

Today, if you want a large television, you are going to have to opt for a smart TV, whether you want it or not. Although it must be recognized that this type of television is very convenient, for many users it has become an absolute nuisance and they are simply looking for a television that is as simple as possible.

Either because you prefer your high-end device (Fire TV Cube, Apple TV 4K or Nvidia Shield) or because you prefer a more traditional system, Google has decided to include an option for those who reject the integrated Smart TV systems.

This option does not apply to Chromecast TV

(since after all, it is a device that serves precisely the opposite of what you are looking for) but to televisions that will have the integrated system, a system that until recently we could not avoid.

At the time of the initial Google TV setup, two setup options will appear, the first being the smart TV mode and the second being the basic mode. In basic mode we lose access to streaming content, applications, recommendations and the Google assistant, having to configure only the antenna television channels and the HDMI inputs of the devices we connect.

Although we configure the basic mode, in the television options we will always have the option to go to the full Google TV system if we change our mind. Google has undoubtedly thought very well of this mode and its ease of transitioning back and forth.

According to a Google spokesperson, this feature is designed primarily for users who do not have internet access at home or have internet problems. Still, the option has a lot of potential for reasons.

The Google TV input will have a basic mode for those who do not want a smart TV appears first in The Free Android.
