We knew Google TV from the hand of the new Chromecast last year, as a new interface for Android TV that various manufacturers such as TCL Y Sony they plan to incorporate their televisions during 2021. The version of Google TV for televisions will come with a curious basic mode.
When setting up one of the new televisions with Google TV, one of the first steps will be between setting up Google TV or Basic TV. If you choose the basic mode, the TV has no applications, Assistant or any other smart function.

Some people like televisions with lots of smart buttons and features, and others are confused by these extra features and prefer an old-fashioned TV: connected to the antenna rather than the Internet. Being increasingly difficult to find a TV that is not “Smart”, TVs with Google TV will include a basic mode.
This mode removes applications, giving access only to the live tv (DTT, cable or similar) or to devices connected by HDMI. That is, it is like taking away the smart functions from the TV. With the change, the TV home screen drastically reduces the number of buttons and options available.
This mode can be useful when the TV does not have Internet access, for people who do not plan to use these types of functions, or to extend its life as a basic TV after the software becomes obsolete in a few years. It is not a choice without turning back, and at any time it is possible to switch from basic mode to “Smart” mode, which is simply called Google TV, although the process involves a factory reset of the device.
This feature will be available in all televisions that include Google TV and not necessarily only those based on the latest version of Android TV, Android TV 12, which was presented in beta form alongside the first Android Developer Preview for mobile.
