Google Recorder launches web version and will soon back up recordings

Pixel phones come with an audio recording application under the name Recorder, although technically it installs without problems in other terminals from your APK. While until now what you recorded on your mobile, it remained on your mobile, Google is preparing the web version of the recorder.

Google is preparing backup of recordings, which will also be accessible from the new web version that is already visible, although not operational, since the current version of the application still does not allow this backup to be made.

The recorder app is presented as an exclusive for Pixel mobiles with which you can record a conversation and have advanced functions, such as instant transcript or the ability to search a recording. However, it is functional if it is installed through its APK on other non-brand terminals.

Until now, the recordings remained strictly on the mobile on which they had been recorded, since were not included in backups and, therefore, when you change mobile, you lose them unless you transfer them manually, for example, by uploading them to Google Drive. Nor did it have any kind of web version, as it happens with Google Messages.

This seems to be about to change, with a web version of the recorder where you can “play, search and share audio”, as indicated in the text included in the web app, which is already operational in recorder.google.com. However, as the app has not yet made backups, the web application appears empty of content.

Google has not yet updated the help of the Recorder indicating how this backup will work, although it would be foreseeable that the size of the recordings would be deducted from the total amount of Google’s storage. The idea seems simple: make a backup copy of the recordings so that you can access them from anywhere, through the web version of the recorder. The normal thing would be that Google does not take too long to update the recorder app with this function, although you never know.
