Google Pay new logo

Google announced yesterday the presentation of the renewed Google Pay, a presentation that has finally taken place today. Expectations were highest after the company said that this new version of the application would change our relationship with money. The new version is official, everything is already known, and it will be launched in Spain also soon.

Google Pay launches a new interface, which makes it look totally different. Google has searched for a new design that allows a more comfortable use of the application, both when making payments to friends and in stores, bars, restaurants or even gas stations. It is the Tez app from India, but international.

After being tested in India, this new Google Pay interface will now be launched in other countries. The new version is no longer an app only for mobile payments and now expands its services. As it transforms into an application with which to manage your money, thanks to functions such as the expense monitor or the personalized recommendations in it. Although this function is something that can be used only with Plex, Google credit cards in collaboration with the entities CitiBank and Stanford Credit Union.

You will no longer be able to use the app only to pay in stores, but rather payments between individuals are made official. You will be able to send money to friends and family, or receive money from them. It is also possible to pay in nearby businesses and you can find which businesses in your area have support for this type of payment. Since restaurants or gas stations will be able to give the option of paying in this way, although it is not yet known what reception they will have.

NFC payments are kept in Google Pay, one of the essential aspects of the application. Their interface has changed, with access to our main payment card now located at the top of the screen. When we click on it we can see the list of the last payments made. It is also possible to change to other cards or view our loyalty cards or gift cards from this section.

The profile page is also updated and allows users to see their available balance, in addition to being able to share their referral code, to obtain rewards. It seems that it will seek to boost the rewards in Google Pay, although at the moment the only one is the one available for inviting other users and having them use the app. There may be more to come.

A little big problem

All these changes in the application are positive, since it allows it to be used in more situations, in addition to providing it with an interface that allows better use of it on Android. Although there is an aspect that Google has hardly commented on, but that is presented as a small big problem in the application.

As your Google Pay account can only be associated with a mobile. If at a certain moment you want to associate it with a new device, you will have to log out of the previous one, so that then it is possible to associate it with the new device. On the new device you will have to go through the entire configuration process again. Although once you have configured everything, when you enter you get a message that says that the account is already used on another device and asks you to log in to a new account.

It is not known if this is a bug in the new Google Pay and if Google will introduce changes. But for now it is presented as a problem to consider.
