Some days ago Google has updated by surprise My Maps, its application for create custom maps It had been since August 2019 without receiving any version, but the novelty that the new update hides is not going to like some users.
After almost two years of abandonment, Google My Maps for android already has an expiration date. In your upgrade to the version 2.2.1.5 the company will announce closing your application.

With more than 10 million downloads, Google My Maps for Android will no longer be available after October 15. Google will remove your application from the Play Store based on the source code of the new version.
The new version of Google My Maps hides the following text string from a future warning that seems to start to appear to users who still use the application during the next few weeks:
“My Maps is moving to the web
The My Maps app for Android will not be available after October 15, 2021. Use the My Maps mobile web to create and share maps. More information about My Maps Mobile Web “
It also includes the text of the warning that Google My Maps will begin to display as of October 15, the date on which the application will stop working in favor of the web version of My Maps:
“My Maps is now on the web
The My Maps app for Android is no longer available. Use the My Maps mobile web to create and share maps. “
Therefore, it becomes official what many of us feared, that Google had abandoned the My Maps application, now confirming that from the second half of October we will only be able to use its web version for mobile phones.
