Google has taken non-mobile versions of Android a bit more seriously in recent years. We are talking about Wear OS or Android Auto. And it has been the latter that has inspired one of the new functions of Google Maps, the interface to use the app in the car.
As we can see in the images, Google has seen fit to completely change the Google Maps interface to make it more comfortable to use when we are in the car.
In this way we have the navigation area at the top, just below the multimedia control and at the end access to the Google assistant or the apps.
If we click on this last icon, the one with the four white dots, an interface will open to launch applications that looks more like a simple launcher menu than the normal Android interface.
At the top of that interface we have direct access to calls and messages with very large buttons. Under them access to other apps that have been designed to be used here, such as Spotify or Google Podcasts. We also have YouTube Music to which Google has given a new interface adapted to this function.
It is strange to see Telegram since a messaging app is perhaps not the best to use while we are in the car.
Apparently, this new interface is appearing to several users although it has not been made official by Google and it seems that it will take at least a few weeks to see it on all mobiles that use Google Maps.
The Google Maps entry in the car changes radically with its new interface appears first in The Free Android.
