Dual rear camera phones are not new. Currently it is common to see terminals with three, four and even more cameras, even in the low range.

However, Google has not implemented this type of system on its mobiles until relatively recently, which explains why it has not been until now that it has decided to improve its augmented reality application with support for this type of camera.

Google AR Services gets better with dual camera support

As you have seen in Android Police, the latest update to the Google Play Services for AR will include several improvements, including a call “dual camera support«.

This means that in some models the app will be able to use two cameras to greatly improve the representation of virtual elements in a real scene.

The mention of “supported devices” is because, apparently, at first the Pixels will be the mobiles that can make use of this improvement. It is expected that in a few weeks or a few months there will be many more terminals compatible with this novelty.

This would allow us to use the representations of animals, for example, more precisely, without them moving somewhat randomly on the surface that we put them.

However, even the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL will have to wait a few weeks to have the new function operational so the rest of the users will have to wait even more.

The entry Google improves its augmented reality app with dual camera support appears first in The Free Android.
