The new version of Google Chrome for Android is officially launched in the Play Store, already available in Spain. A few weeks after launching version 88 of the browser, the new version with number 89 is already stable. As usual in each new version, we find a series of new features in the Google browser.
Features such as support for the NFC APIRead later, the privacy testing area or changes in some parts of the design are the novelties that Google Chrome introduces in this version 89, which Android users can now download in a stable way from the Play Store.
How to disable new Google Chrome tab groupsIf you want to disable the new group tab view in the form of a grid in Google Chrome for Android, these are the steps.
Google Chrome leaves us with a small design change in the windows with information about a website, that menu that comes out when clicking on the padlock in the URL bar. This window now has rounded edges, instead of the straight edges of until now. There is also a design change in Discover, on the home page, with a simpler and more compact design. Some elements such as the sample of the article are eliminated to give more prominence to the title and the image.
A novelty that was anticipated in version 88 but which is now active as standard is the NFC Web API in the browser. This allows NFC tags to be read on a web, for any use. You will have to ask the user for permission first to use this feature on said website.
Another novelty in the browser, although we will have to activate it from the experimental functions menu, is Read later. This function allows you to add web pages to a reading list from the context menu after long tapping on a link. So you can access that website at another time, if you can’t read it at that specific time. You have to activate the “read-later” flag in that menu.
The other option that is activated in this menu of experimental functions of Google Chrome en Privacy Sandbox, a new privacy feature that is intended to replace cookies. This will allow the websites to personalize content for you, but without using identifiable information. You will only have to look for Privacy Sandbox in that menu. These functions can now be enjoyed in the new version of the browser, available in the Play Store.
