Fossil introduced just over a year ago the Fossil Gen 5, smart watches with Wear OS that bet on a long-lasting battery and the good design that usually accompanies the brand. The new generation comes in more sizes, with smaller bezels, and priced lower than last generation, in exchange for some cuts
Let’s see then the technical sheet and specifications of the new 5th generation Fosil watches in their ‘E’ variant, bets somewhat cheaper in exchange for giving up some points.
Fossil Gen 5E, datasheet
FOSSIL GEN 5E
44 x 44 x 12 mm
Snapdragon Wear 3100
Bluetooth 4.2 LE
Android 6 or higher
Various battery modes
Small cuts to adjust the price
The Fossil 5E generation does not come hand in hand with major changes, but there are some differences from last year’s models. The size of watches evolves, since now there is the possibility of buying them with a new size of 42mm. This model has smaller bezels to keep the same screen as 44mm models.
It is a 1.19-inch AMOLED panel, accompanied by the same Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor, a fairly old generation and not very energy efficient. The battery promised by Fossil is one day, and the watch has technologies such as NFC, Bluetooth 4.2 and WiFi connection. In this new version the altimeter and the GPS are cut, as well as the internal memory, which goes from 8 GB to 4 GB.
They could not miss several sports modes, an ambient light sensor and the possibility of measuring the heart rate through sensors on the back. Further, have a speaker and microphone to answer calls, as well as to consult the Google Assistant in the case that we use Android.
Fossil Gen 5E versions and price
Regardless of the size of the Fossil Gen 5E will be sold at a price of $ 249, for now, in the US market. This is a saving of 50 dollars compared to the previous version, in exchange for having less battery, less screen and losing some sensors.
