Taking advantage the virtual CES currently being held Fossil has unveiled its new generation of smartwatches: the Fossil Gen 5 LTE. In itself it is not a new generation since it is the same Fossil Gen 5 with 4G LTE connectivity. And maintaining a sporty design that does not deviate excessively from the style that Fossil maintains in its line of watches.
Smartwatches with Wear OS have found their place in the catalog of classic add-on firms as many have taken advantage of Google’s operating system to offer smart devices as an alternative to classic watches. Fossil is one of those brands: their line of smartwatches With Wear OS it has models with good quality / price ratio. The new Fossil Gen 5 LTE is a good sample.

Shy renewal, now with built-in LTE
The Fossil Gen 5 LTE is an improvement over the Fossil Gen 5 Previous, also ahead of Fossil Gen 5E. Of course, basically at the connectivity level since the watch keeps the hardware almost intact, also the exterior appearance. And since they are all based on Wear OS, the software doesn’t change much from one to the other either.
The new Fossil watch has a 1.28-inch AMOLED screen, mounts a processor Snapdragon Wear 3100, includes 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage, offers a central button with a rotating crown and two programmable secondary buttons, has a heart rate reader, the Fossil Gen 5 LTE maintains mobile payments by NFC and, obviously, makes use of 4G so that phone independence is a reality.
The Fossil Gen 5 LTE has a 45 mm case made of stainless steel with a multitude of straps to choose from (18 mm). It is available in black and gold, has protection against dust and water (5 ATM) and its magnetic charger recharges 80% of the battery in about 50 minutes. On paper it should give up to two days of use on a single charge (without the screen always on).

This smartwatch is now available in the United States: there it can be purchased at pre-purchase through the brand online store. Its price is 349 dollars, about 287 euros to change.
