Dolby Vision Support Comes to Xbox Series X | S with Latest Firmware Update

Microsoft continues to work on improving the performance of its new generation of game consoles. Machines with powerful hardware that can benefit from sound and image improvements, the latter section that Microsoft has improved by bringing the Dolby Vision support to Xbox Series X | S.

Microsoft just released a new update for Xbox Series X | S that offers compatibility with Dolby Vision for next-gen games. This possibility, which was already available within the Insider Program from spring, now reaches all users.

Microsoft brings Dolby Vision Gaming support to Xbox Series X | S. In this way, the compatible titles will offer a higher image quality but yes, we must not forget that in order to take advantage of it we need to have a Dolby Vision compatible TV or monitor.

Microsoft has announced that Dolby Vision games will be playable on Xbox Series X | S, with more than 100 titles available in Dolby Vision. This is the case of titles such as “Ori and the Will of the Wisps”, “Psychonauts 2”, “F1 2021”, “Microsoft Flight Simulator”, “Gears 5”, “Borderlands 3”, “Immortals Fenyx Rising” or “The Division 2 “or titles that will arrive in the future such as” Halo Infinite “.

Xbox Series X | S consoles they were already compatible with the HDR10 format and they could also access sound based on Dolby Atmos objects. Now, these improvements are completed with support for HDR via Dolby Vision. In this sense, games optimized for HDR10 and Auto HDR will improve with support for Dolby Vision.

If we have a Dolby Vision compatible TV or monitor, the image will automatically adjust to the best possible performance. What’s more, Dolby Vision supports DirectX Raytracing, ALLM low latency automatic mode, variable refresh rate (VRR, essential for works like Microsoft Flight Simulator) and up to 120FPS.

To enable support for Dolby Vision You have to access the “Settings” of the console, then enter “General”, “TV Options” and “Screen”. We choose “Video modes” and if the TV / monitor is compatible we can activate “Dolby Vision for games”.
