Disney+ is the protagonist of the day, for just a few hours, he has produced his landing in Spain and in several european countries. The new streaming service comes with arguments well-known as the entire catalog of Star Wars, Pixar or Marvel, but also others, such as the price or the number of devices.
After having analyzed the service and have answered a few doubts that we can do about this new streaming platform, let’s see how they compare with those that were already in Spain.

Catalogue: Disney+ there is a little bit of time, but a lot of quality according to taste
In the catalog, they start the big differences between platforms. JustWatch it is a service of which we have spoken several times on Engadget, that allows us to know on which platforms we can find the content they want to see, either watch in streaming or by rental. However, and without being perfect, also provides a count of how many content you have a platform, divided by series and in movies, and in global. This is what he says of each platform:
- Disney+: 843 titles. 729 movies and 114 series.
- Netflix: 2238 titles. 2318 movies and 1251 series.
- HBO: 1058 titles. 728 movies and 330 series.
- Amazon: 3209 titles. 2772 movies and 437 series.
- Movistar+ Lite: 212 series.
- Apple TV+: 18 titles. 4 movies and 14 series.
- NETFLIX: 6745 title: 6572 movies and 173 series.
According to the co-Xataka, that have been hand-counted, Disney+ has 747 titles, divided into 619 movies and 128 series. On the basis of that, we have to take all the figures that we have provided as approximations. And they are more or less high, the numbers are not everything. Some time ago, analyzed the catalog of services in the united States, and discovered that, while Amazon Prime had many more movies, very few of them were popular and they had good ratings in Rotten Tomatoes.
In that sense, the catalog of Disney+ today, it is quite short, but a lot of quality if you’re a fan of classic Disney, Pixar, series and films from Marvel, and everything that has to do with Star Wars. In that sense, as streaming service family, you will have a perfect fit.
Something they are all doing to improve here, except Netflix, is to bet on own content that they differ. In this sense, Movistar+ Lite does not lack the appeal of being able to find programs such as ‘The Resistance‘or series like ‘The Plague‘. Yes, in Amazon and Netflix, the two big international giants, also we see more and more Spanish productions.
Apple TV+ all it’s own, in contrast with NETFLIX, but very small still like to compare with the other. The service is Spanish it’s ideal for finding classic films, independent and cult serieswith the catalog probably more valued if we look at the scores on sites like Filmaffinity or IMDB.
HBO, which has a poor service technically, in the catalogue has always opted for qualityand never be missing among my chosen if I had to settle with just three titles. In the end it is about knowing what offers each of the platforms, and, why not, be on the lookout for new releases to be giving high and low services according to the contents shown in each time.
Matter of price, content, quality, and devices
The price is going to play a very important role in the international success of Disney+. For just 6,99 euros a month we get a catalogue of films very highly regarded wherever they have been. However, it is not its only argument per se.
Remember that the service allows up to 4 simultaneous playback, and that, in this age of the Internet, is equivalent to groups of friends sharing accounts. For slightly more than a euro and a half, in the case of a split, you get a service that can be a great supplement to others who now have releases more frequently. Do not forget that the equivalent of Netflix costs 16 euros, and others like HBO, Movistar+ Lite, NETFLIX, or Amazon, or even have a plan of more than two simultaneous displays.
But beyond the personal calculations, Disney+ provides a reproduction quality very high, with lots of content remastered in 4K and with a Dolby Vision. These resolutions and qualities of HDR are only compared on Netflix, Amazon and Apple TV+, but in the first two with a bitrate much lower. Even so, these days of quarantine, and the bitrate reduced, it is not the best time to assess services by the image quality. Movistar+ Lite, HBO or NETFLIX are light years ahead in this section.
At the level of the devices that can operate, Disney+ is equal to the best in this category, as are Amazon and Netflixsince , in addition to on Smart TVs from Samsung and LG, is available for Apple TV, Android devices, TV, PS4, Xbox and Switch, and Chromecast, and Amazon Fire TV. Of course, we can find your application in iOS and Android.
Where they miss more functions on the part of Disney+ and in the section of customization and options, as in front of Netflix or Amazon, the setup looks like a desert. It is not possible to view history of visualizations, or to see what devices have downloads of face-to-delete one, for example.
