As every year Google has launched a new version of Android and in 2020 it was Android 11. Different manufacturers carry out parallel developments of the interfaces they use on their mobiles. In the case of OPPO, we are talking about Color OS.
In 2019 the company introduced Color OS 7, based on Android 10, but for this year it has carried out a name change, similar to that made by firms such as Huawei. Thus, the software they have created based on Android 11 will be called Color OS 11 and we already have update dates in Spain and other European markets.
One of the intentions of the company is to make it more similar to Android stock, but after having seen it it does not seem that, at least aesthetically, we are going to see something like this. Yes, Discover It will return to the desks, something that makes us happy.
One of the most curious novelties is the inclusion, within the function of taking a screenshot with three fingers, of being able to translate the selected text. For this, OPPO has integrated the functionality of Google Lens.
Although OPPO has been with the dark mode available for some time, in this version of Color OS this goes a step further and we will have three customizable dark modes: Intense, medium and soft.
We can change the wallpaper and icons of the dark mode so that they are not the same as with the day mode. We can program them according to the sunrise and sunset or the hours we want and we can even adjust the contrast of the screen to adapt to the different modes automatically.
Color OS 11 will allow the use of apps in a floating window, but we can also change their size so that it does not disturb the screen.
Finally, the advanced system of the Ambiente screen or Always On Display is implemented. It can be customized with different designs, not only in the animations, but also in the styles, colors …
OPPO has implemented a curious function capable of generating various wallpapers from a photograph. The system will create minimalist wallpapers that we can use in a simple way.
One of the functions that Oxygen OS liked the most, the OnePlus interface, was the possibility of changing the colors of the system. In Color OS 11 we can do it, in addition to modifying the font and shape of the icons in the notification bar.
The customization will be much greater in Color OS, and we will be able to change the icon packs, their shapes and the fingerprint sensor animations.
We can modify the tones of the system by choosing one instrument or another and choosing the type with a very simple and intuitive interface.
In addition, the system will merge the continuous sounds of several notifications into one, something perfect for chats.
Color OS 11 will be compatible with the new Android 11 power button that allows the control of home automation devices. It will be usable with the Google assistant but it will also include controls for other ecosystems.
In addition to all these new features, the Android 11 privacy features have been implemented, such as unique permissions and location restriction.
There are some things typical of Android 11 that have not been implemented, such as multimedia control in the shortcut area of the notification bar. Hopefully it will arrive in a later update. Nor will we have the notifications in bubble shape, At least for the moment.
The company has also published the dates on which we can expect this update to reach its mobiles in Spain and other European countries:
The entry Color OS 11: new features of the OPPO interface based on Android 11 appears first in The Free Android.
