CAT S42: a mobile low-profile low-end

One of the manufacturers most unique in the Android ecosystem is CAT. This company manufactures possibly the mobile more resilient with this operating system, and although they are not intended for normal use, many expressed their gratitude for his existence.

With their two latest models, the CAT S52 and the CAT S32, the company has other a higher end model nomenclature, the CAT S42, that is even cheaper although it has some specifications to be cropped.

Contrary to what might be expected, the CAT S42 has specifications slightly lower than the S32. In particular we talk about its processor, which is a Helium-A20 instead of the Helium P20 that has the model of child naming.

The memory RAM and the internal memory are retained, with three and 32 GB, respectively, although there is a slight modification in the rear-facing camera that is now 12 Mpx. The front camera is of 5 Mpx.

It has also modified the screen, which is 5.5 inches and keeps resolution of 1440 × 720 px.

Positive part of this model is clearly in its exterior. In addition to having a battery large enough to power it develops, is certified against water and dust by means of ip 68. In addition, the screen can be used with gloves or when you have wet fingers and the resistance also has its own certification, the Mil Spec 810G standard that promises to withstand impacts of up to 1.8 metres.

We also have a physical button configured to talk which by default allows you to use the phone as a Walkie-Talkie.

Price and availability

This device was announced few months ago but not put on sale on the website of the manufacturer and on the usual channels until September of this year. The price of your unique configuration with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage is 249 €.
