Android 12 will adapt the system theme to your wallpaper

Android 12 is here. We have already taught you how to install it and counted our first impressions. This is a preliminary version which still has several functions to implement, among others, the theme change automatically based on the wallpaper that we have on the device.

A developer of XDA Developers have had access to this function, showing how it works which, despite being in the early stages of development, seems quite correct. Thanks to the APIs of the system, the mobile is able to adapt the theme to the wallpaper, so that they always match.

One of the star functions of Android 12 will come from the hand of customization. Thanks to the Android 12 Palette and WallpaperColors APIs, the system will be able to recognize the main color of the wallpaper in order to adapt the theme with said palette.

The wallpaper will make the theme adapt both the settings and the notification panel and lock screen

It will change both the theme of the notification panel and shortcuts as well as the system settings itself, that will have as an accent the color that has been detected. These functions are not active yet in Android 12, but by reverse engineering the developer has managed to activate them. At this point of development, the developer realizes that the system applies color overlays based on the Material Design colors in the SystemUI.

This means that, let’s put the wallpaper that we put, it will capture the main color and overlap it in the system, always with the spot color palette that Google uses. However, being a preliminary version, it is more than likely that we will see differences with the final version.

Finally, the developer has shown how it will be the new Android 12 lock screen, which will have changes both in the way of showing the time and notifications and in the status bar itself, which would be somewhat different. In her these adapted themes would also work, so its integration aims to be deep.
